The Vocational Promotion and Guidance Branch, operating under the Western Thrace
Minority University Graduates Association, held a session titled “Sleep Cycles and Stages”
within the scope of “Personal Development Workshops” on March 14, 2025.
High school seniors Deniz and Emine made a presentation on sleep cycles and sleep stages. In
their presentation, they first provided information about what sleep cycles are and how these
cycles work. They particularly focused on the characteristics and functions of REM (Rapid
Eye Movement) sleep and explained the importance of this stage with examples.
They also detailed the duration of REM sleep, sleep disorders and how sleep cycles are
completed. They emphasized the necessity of completing these cycles regularly for healthy
sleep and provided important information to the participants. They also defined the concept of
sleepwalking and provided information about its symptoms and treatment methods. Then,
they touched on the subject of Insomnia (sleeplessness) and made suggestions on the causes
of this condition and how it can be prevented.
At the end of their presentation, they drew attention to the importance of being a healthy
individual and improving their quality of life, as well as completing their sleep cycles
regularly in order to have a productive day. This informative presentation reminded the
participants once again of the importance of sleep health.
Emine and Deniz also celebrated March 14 Medicine Day. This celebration was meaningful
in terms of both drawing attention to the field of health and reminding them of the importance
of sleep health.
