A VISIT TO DIMARION VILLAGE BY WTMUGA WOMENS’ BRANCH

The Womens’ Branch of the Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association
(WTMUGA) held an event titled “Child Health and Psychology: First Aid and Mental
Well-being” in Dimarion village of Xanthi province on Saturday, November 23, 2024.
Pediatrician, Munevver AGO and Psychologist Sibel TOP participated as speakers in the
event held in Dimarion village.
Doctor Munevver AGO provided information about Intervention in Respiratory Tract
Obstruction, First Aid in Burns and Hot Weather, First Aid in Cases of Drowning, First Aid in
Fractures and Dislocations, First Aid in Cases of Allergic Reactions and Shock, What to Do
in Cases of High Fever and Seizures, First Aid Steps in Poisoning, Minor Injuries and
Bleeding, Emergency Symptoms in Children and Getting Help. Psychologist Simpel TOP
provided information on the following topics: Definition and Importance of Psychological
First Aid, Intervention in Crisis Situations in Children, Post-Traumatic Stress Symptoms,
Emotional Reactions and Behavioral Changes in Children, Creating a Safe Environment in
Children, The Role of the Family and the Environment in the Psychological First Aid Process,
Effective Communication Methods with Children, Short-Term Psychological Support and
Professional Help, Things to Consider in Psychological First Aid Applications in Children,
and the Importance of Psychological First Aid Training for Children.
After the speakers’ explanations, the event continued in the form of a conversation and
question and answer. The event was met with great interest from local women. The event
ended with snacks made by the women of Dimarion village, souvenir gifts given to the
participants and photographs taken.
