The Women’s Branch of the Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association (WTMUGA) held an event titled “Social Awareness: Fighting Breast Cancer” on Saturday, October 16, 2024, in Mega Dereion village of Evros province, on the occasion of “Breast Cancer Awareness Month”. Gynecology and Obstetrics Specialist Dr. Selma Giroglou and Gynecology and Obstetrics Specialist Dr. Moumpetzel Emin participated as speakers in the event held in Mega Dereion village. Dr. Moumpetzel Emin provided information on the definition of breast cancer, its causes, screening methods, stages and the importance of early diagnosis. Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialist Dr. Selma Giroglou provided information about the steps to be taken when a lump is noticed in the breast, methods to understand whether the lump is benign or malignant, and follow-up frequency. After the speakers’ presentations, the question-answear session began. The event, which took the form of a chat, attracted great interest from women in the region. The event ended with a souvenir photo.
